What it is

Waymo is a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, with no human safety driver, operated by Waymo LLC (Alphabet) and hailed through the Waymo One smartphone app much like a standard rideshare app. Vehicles drive themselves door to door using an AI-driven self-driving system, with no driver present in the vehicle to interact with at any point in the trip. As of mid-2026 it operates in numerous US metro areas plus Tokyo and London, with 24/7 availability within its operating zones.
