What it is
A voice-banking system developed by the Nemours Speech Research Laboratory that lets a person record a large set of sentences (up to 1600) through a browser-based or Windows recorder, from which a personal synthetic text-to-speech voice is built. The resulting voice can be used with compatible speech-generating devices and AAC software so that if someone loses natural speech, their device speaks in a voice built from their own recordings rather than a generic synthetic voice.
Who this helps, and how
Bank a synthetic version of your own voice before ALS, a progressive condition, or planned surgery takes natural speech away
