Aftermarket collision-avoidance and anti-tip safety system that retrofits onto an existing power wheelchair
What it is
A hardware and software add-on that attaches to an existing power wheelchair and uses a fusion of stereo cameras, radar and ultrasonic/infrared range-finders to detect collision risks, drop-offs (kerbs, stairs) and tipping danger in real time. When a hazard is detected, LUCI automatically scales back the drive input and smoothly slows or stops the chair rather than cutting power abruptly, and it gives an audible warning when the chair is on a slope steep enough to risk tipping. Braking sensitivity and reaction thresholds are tuned to the individual user during setup. It connects to a cloud dashboard for over-the-air software updates.
