What it is

NotebookLM is Google's AI-powered research and note-taking tool. A user uploads source documents — PDFs, Google Docs, slides, web links, pasted text, audio or video — and the tool grounds all its output strictly in those sources, answering questions and generating summaries, study guides and mind maps. Its distinctive feature is 'Audio Overview', which generates a multi-minute, podcast-style spoken conversation between two AI voices discussing the uploaded material. It is free to use with a Google account, with a paid Google AI Pro/Ultra tier raising daily usage limits.
