Edit audio and video by editing a text transcript, with AI voice cloning for narration
What it is
Descript is a desktop and web-based audio/video editing application that automatically transcribes a recording and lets the user edit the underlying media by editing the generated text transcript — deleting, reordering, or retyping words in the transcript cuts or rearranges the corresponding audio/video, and an 'Studio Sound'/filler-word removal feature can strip out 'um's and pauses automatically. It also includes 'Overdub', a feature that creates a synthetic clone of a user's own voice from a training recording, which can then generate new narration from typed text in that voice. It is offered on a freemium subscription model, with paid tiers unlocking longer processing limits and professional voice cloning.
