Pattern-recognition control system that unlocks multi-grip prosthetic hands
What it is
A myoelectric control add-on for upper-limb prostheses. Rather than the traditional two-site EMG scheme (one muscle site to open the hand, one to close it), Complete Control uses pattern-recognition software to learn the distinct muscle-signal pattern associated with each grip a user intends, from a short on-device calibration routine. It then decodes intended movement from forearm muscle activity in real time to drive whichever compatible prosthetic hand, wrist or elbow the person already has. It is sold as a component through prosthetists rather than a standalone consumer device, and is compatible with more than 400 hand/wrist/elbow combinations.
