Alexa Emergency Assist (Smart Alerts / Sound Detection)
by Amazon.com, Inc. · US
Subscription service that has Echo devices listen for smoke alarms, CO alarms and breaking glass and text your phone
What it is
Alexa Emergency Assist is a paid subscription service for Amazon Echo device owners that includes Sound Detection, a feature using machine learning to continuously listen for the specific sounds of smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and breaking glass. When one of these sounds is detected, Alexa sends a 'Smart Alert' push notification to the owner's phone containing a short audio clip of what was heard and, on Echo devices with a camera, a link to view a live feed; the notification also offers a one-tap option to connect to Amazon's Urgent Response emergency service. It succeeds the earlier free 'Alexa Guard' feature, which has been retired in favor of this subscription product.
